Description
It was September 1973 when the South Crimea Team of the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR made a reconnaissance of prehistoric sites in the area from Laspi Bay to Sarych Cape in the South Coast of the Crimea. They have investigated 12 sites total, which were located on terraces, near stones, 10-18 m above the sea level. These places were partly discovered by O. I. Dombrovskiy's and Yu. G. Kolosov's reconnaissances, some were found by the authors of the present report. Almost all these sites have typical accumulations of sea and land shells. Surface finds was collected from all the sites investigated in 1973, four sites were explored by prospect trenches. The latter were from different periods: two from Mesolithic (Laspi 7, Era 1), and two settlements probably were from Copper Age (Laspi 1, Era 2). Besides that, the team investigated several sites far away from the sea side, particularly the one near Orlinoye Village. NPTC archive. File no. 1693. |
